christmas eve memories...

christmas eve memories:
we made our first stop in elk river to visit auntie sharon, uncle terry, and cousins- kaytlin and elana. Livia had a great time playing with the girls, opening presents, and eating chocolate from sharon's chocolate fountain.

run, run as fast as you can...

run, run as fast as you can: no, we did not make gingerbread men. As you can see, Livia and Bobby created a gingerbread house today. My parents and I were busily painting the basement family room, while the two cooks put together their creation. Livi loved all the candy, and daddy made it through another challenging project! Yeah for daddy!

are we there yet....

are we there yet: yesterday bobby, livi, livi's godparents, paul and laurie, and i attended the macy's 8th floor show, "the nutcracker". We got off on the 5th floor and waited close to 2 hours to see the show. Livi really liked all the dancing dolls in the nutcracker. We didn't see Santa, but hopefully this week we'll finally get to meet him. I am sure I will post some pictures after that visit!

christmas #1...

christmas #1: we had our first family christmas yesterday in nicollet. We attended the Windschitl Family Christmas with grandma and grandpa. All of us ate too much and came home with full stomachs and cars. Bobby had a nice time playing cards, Livi had a great time playing with the yellow lab puppies, and I enjoyed being with the family. Now, only 6 more Christmases to go. I love this time of year!

snow angels...

snow angels: i caught livi and bobby lying around on the job when they should have been shoveling last weekend. I guess I can't blame them...they are both pretty cute snow angels!

naughty or nice...

naughty or nice: for the past few years i have wanted an advent house (much like the one on "national lampoon's christmas vacation"). My mom found a really cool St. Nick's box that contains 25 boxes for "good girls and boys". It is much like a house, but there are 25 boxes containing goodies, rather than windows.
Grandma Pam was so kind and filled all the boxes for Livia. Today Livi received her first box containing a kitty bracelet. She was "over the moon"! I don't think she has grasped the concept of receiving a box each day, but I have a feeling she will catch on quick after a few more days!

dancing queen...

dancing queen: livi and i had our last "mommy and me" dance class on thursday. Livia really enjoyed the dancing and gymnastics. It was a great experience to try together, but we are going to take a break until next year. Whew!

goody, goody, gumdrops...

goody, goody, gumdrops: livia, bobby, and i were able to fulfill our annual visit to turcks trees in litchfield on friday. Livia looks a little bit like Vanna White showing off the reindeer. We picked out a Balsam Spruce tree, and it looks beautiful in our new house.
Later that evening...Bobby ended up in the Hutchinson Hospital due to severe abdominal pain. It turns out he has Diverticulitis, so he was in the hospital until Monday evening. It was quite the stressful Thanksgiving weekend for all of us. We are definitely thankful for his health and for being home with us, finally!

gobble, gobble...

gobble, gobble: livia, bobby, and i made a turkey cookie last night. It was a trial cookie to see if it could be done with my class of third graders tomorrow. I think it was pretty successful, and Livi enjoyed eating it as much as making it. I guess we can say we are vegetarians until Thursday. I am so excited!

Happy Thanksgiving!

i'm a big girl now...

i'm a big girl now: livi moved from her crib to a sleeping mat saturday and sunday for her naps. We were in transition to moving her into her new bed, but it was still at grandma and grandpa's house until today. We are transferring her to her new "big girl's bed" tonight. Cross your fingers! Livia is excited about her new bed (mostly because she likes jumping on beds), but it is a first step. It just makes me tear up a bit to think she is growing up so fast!

autumn wonderland...

autumn wonderland: livi had a great time playing in the leaves yesterday. We put her in the leaves to get some Christmas card photos. It worked! We successfully ordered our Christmas cards yesterday. Mark one up for the Withers Family and it's not even Thanksgiving yet (as Bobby kept reminding me yesterday...okay, so I was a little excited)!

copper, me, and mommy makes three...

copper, me, and mommy makes three: all that is missing from a great christmas photo is bobby!

trick or treat...

trick or treat: livi started her
day off with a party at kimmy's
house (daycare). She came home
with a haul of candy and it wasn't
even supper yet. Later on in the evening we
made our rounds in Hutch.

Livi really had a good time, the
only exception was the getting
back into the car seat each time
we made a visit. I think next year
we will just make the rounds around
our cul-de-sac. What
a princess- whether she
has a costume on or not!

Doesn't she look just like her daddy in this picture?

Dancing Queen...er, princess

liv-o-lantern

liv-o-lantern: bobby, livia, and i went to the farmer's market yesterday and picked out some pumpkins. Livi was pretty excited about turning it into a "jack-o-lantern", but I don't think she really understood what that entails. Livi really didn't like getting her fingers dirty, but she liked helping daddy with the face. All in all, it was a good first pumpkin experience for Livia.

and on that farm he had a...

and on that farm he had a: my class and i visited the "nelson's farm" yesterday to culminate our units on life cycles/animals and pig stories from our reading curriculum. It was a fantastic day, despite that I couldn't stop shaking from being so cold. The kids learned a lot about farms, and I even got to swing on the barn swing a few times. All in all, it was a nice day.

a weekend away...

a weekend away: we decided to get away this weekend so we stayed at the holiday inn in otsego, mn. It has an indoor waterpark, so livi was in heaven! When we arrived we quickly changed into our swimming suits and headed down to the waterpark. It seemed a little odd that there were no kids swimming in the "kiddie area" but we headed there first. We were quickly told there would be no swimming for at least an hour. The lifeguard asked, "Did you hear what happened?" Of course we didn't, so she then proceeded to tell us that a kid had pooped in the pool. The area needed to be sterilized, which would be about an hour. What a way to start your vacation. So, a couple of hours later, we returned to the baby ruth scene and had a blast! It was a nice weekend away with the family...I just wish we could do it more often.

all girl...

all girl: couldn't resist this picture. Thanks daddy!

a-maze-ing....

a-maze-ing: we visited the "a-maze-ing farm" in eden valley on saturday. It was an "amazing" experience, to say the least. We were able to get into all the pens and hold lots of different animals. Livia really enjoyed the baby pot bellied pig. She hasn't stopped talking about all the animals, especially the chickens.

Livi and I decided to go inside the coop to pick some eggs. As we were doing so, one of the chickens decided it wanted its egg back. It started pecking at us, so we jumped out of the coop REALLY fast. We told Livia the chicken was saying, "I want my egg back!" So that is all she has been saying for the past few days. Lesson learned....be careful what you say!

an apple a day...

an apple a day: bobby, livi, shawn (my brother), and i visited the "deer late orchard" last weekend. It was a beautiful day for the orchard. We fed the animals, went for a hay ride, and picked some apples. We even discovered a new apple called the "Zestar" apple. It was delicious!
I apologize that it has been so long since I have written...I caught a cold (I think it was from eating out of my sick brother's ice cream cup last weekend), and I have been feeling awful. So between nausea from being pregnant and having a cold, I have been wiped! I will do my best to keep you updated on the family. Thanks for "hanging in there".... :)

a picture says a thousand words...

a picture says a thousand words: yes, it's true! We are expecting a baby! How fitting that we found out on Labor day. Everyone is very excited, and I am very tired and nauseous. I remember being tired with Livia, but not this nauseous. I am 8 weeks along, which sets our due date at May 5th. I jokingly say that we are going to have a "Cinco de Mayo" baby, so why not name the baby Jose Cuervo or Bonita Chaquita Rosita Michelle Withers? We visit the doctor in 2 weeks to hear the heartbeat, so we would appreciate all your prayers until then. We will keep you updated, but until then, keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

it was "zoo"rrific...

it was "zoo"rrific: bobby, grandma pam, livi, and i visited the minnesota zoo one last time on monday. Livi had been asking when we were going to the zoo again, so we thought, "Why not today?" It was a nice day filled with lots of sunshine. Livi enjoyed the monkeys, a swimming beaver, milking a goat, and the chickens. It was a nice way to officially end our summer. We had another nice summer as a family. I only wish we could have had a little more, but then again, fall is my favorite season.

wigglin' all over the place...

wigglin' all over the place: last wednesday bobby and i closed on our new house on carlisle street. We spent the day with family and friends painting, extending the laminate wood floors, cleaning, and putting on hardware.
On Friday Livi, Bobby, Grandma Pam, Grandpa Mike, and I attended the "Wiggles" concert. It was a fun experience, even though Livi wasn't really sure what to make of it. I think she enjoyed herself, since she still talks about seeing "Captain Feathersword and Waggs the Dog in concert". I personally had a great time, but Bobby and I both agree the "Wiggles" aren't the same without Greg. Let's have a moment of silence for Greg, the retired Wiggle, to remember all the "wiggly good times" together.... :)

mirror, mirror on the wall...

mirror, mirror on the wall: saturday evening there was a costume contest at jellystone, followed by "trick-or-treating" around the campground. Livi won the costume costume (okay, all the kids won in the "3 years and under" category).
Afterwards, we drove around the campgrounds in our golf cart collecting candy. I enjoyed hearing all the "oohs" and "ahs" when Livi would arrive. What a cutie!

hey there boo boo...

hey there boo boo: My family and i visited "jellystone" this weekend in warrens, wi (home of yogi bear). All of us drove to Wisconsin to spend the weekend with the Schaffer family. It has become a tradition to take a summer trip together. We stayed in a villa with 2 other families. The others were staying in a villa next door to us so we were able to be close to one another. The campground was HUGE! My mom rented us a golf cart for the weekend so we could get around to all the water parks and other attractions. Livi loved the water slides. By the end of the weekend she was riding on them alone (even though my heart stopped each time she went down them); what a little daredevil!

mild or meeker...

mild or meeker: we attended the meeker county fair today with "Auntie Susan" and "Auntie Jill". Livi loved the animals, of course! She even got up close and personal with one of the kittys. When Livia went to pick it up, she grabbed it by its neck. The poor kitty looked terrified. Auntie Jill quickly took over and held the kitty so Livi could pet the cat, instead of strangling it. We had a nice time, even if we only got to see the animals. Next Wednesday the McLeod county fair begins. I wonder if we can make it three fairs in a row...
