and on that farm he had a: my class and i visited the "nelson's farm" yesterday to culminate our units on life cycles/animals and pig stories from our reading curriculum. It was a fantastic day, despite that I couldn't stop shaking from being so cold. The kids learned a lot about farms, and I even got to swing on the barn swing a few times. All in all, it was a nice day.

a weekend away...

a weekend away: we decided to get away this weekend so we stayed at the holiday inn in otsego, mn. It has an indoor waterpark, so livi was in heaven! When we arrived we quickly changed into our swimming suits and headed down to the waterpark. It seemed a little odd that there were no kids swimming in the "kiddie area" but we headed there first. We were quickly told there would be no swimming for at least an hour. The lifeguard asked, "Did you hear what happened?" Of course we didn't, so she then proceeded to tell us that a kid had pooped in the pool. The area needed to be sterilized, which would be about an hour. What a way to start your vacation. So, a couple of hours later, we returned to the baby ruth scene and had a blast! It was a nice weekend away with the family...I just wish we could do it more often.

all girl...

all girl: couldn't resist this picture. Thanks daddy!

a-maze-ing....

a-maze-ing: we visited the "a-maze-ing farm" in eden valley on saturday. It was an "amazing" experience, to say the least. We were able to get into all the pens and hold lots of different animals. Livia really enjoyed the baby pot bellied pig. She hasn't stopped talking about all the animals, especially the chickens.

Livi and I decided to go inside the coop to pick some eggs. As we were doing so, one of the chickens decided it wanted its egg back. It started pecking at us, so we jumped out of the coop REALLY fast. We told Livia the chicken was saying, "I want my egg back!" So that is all she has been saying for the past few days. Lesson learned....be careful what you say!

an apple a day...

an apple a day: bobby, livi, shawn (my brother), and i visited the "deer late orchard" last weekend. It was a beautiful day for the orchard. We fed the animals, went for a hay ride, and picked some apples. We even discovered a new apple called the "Zestar" apple. It was delicious!
I apologize that it has been so long since I have written...I caught a cold (I think it was from eating out of my sick brother's ice cream cup last weekend), and I have been feeling awful. So between nausea from being pregnant and having a cold, I have been wiped! I will do my best to keep you updated on the family. Thanks for "hanging in there".... :)

a picture says a thousand words...

a picture says a thousand words: yes, it's true! We are expecting a baby! How fitting that we found out on Labor day. Everyone is very excited, and I am very tired and nauseous. I remember being tired with Livia, but not this nauseous. I am 8 weeks along, which sets our due date at May 5th. I jokingly say that we are going to have a "Cinco de Mayo" baby, so why not name the baby Jose Cuervo or Bonita Chaquita Rosita Michelle Withers? We visit the doctor in 2 weeks to hear the heartbeat, so we would appreciate all your prayers until then. We will keep you updated, but until then, keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

it was "zoo"rrific...

it was "zoo"rrific: bobby, grandma pam, livi, and i visited the minnesota zoo one last time on monday. Livi had been asking when we were going to the zoo again, so we thought, "Why not today?" It was a nice day filled with lots of sunshine. Livi enjoyed the monkeys, a swimming beaver, milking a goat, and the chickens. It was a nice way to officially end our summer. We had another nice summer as a family. I only wish we could have had a little more, but then again, fall is my favorite season.
